True or false about acne...

Just thinking about acne gives you pimples? Let’s clarify the subject!

Just thinking about acne gives you pimples? Let’s clarify the subject!

Acne is contagious.
FALSE | Acne is not contagious. Despite the fact that acne lesions contain bacteria called Propionibacterium acnes, better known as P-acnes, the condition cannot be transmitted under any circumstances. The bacteria develops inside hair follicles that are not exposed to air, thus completely eliminating the risk of it being transmitted to another person.

Acne is caused by bad hygiene.
FALSE | The cause of acne is not related to hygiene, but rather to excess sebum produced by the sebaceous glands. This excess sebum clogs pores, causing pimples to appear. That’s why it’s important to practice good hygiene and use products designed for oily skin, which regulate sebum production and soothe irritation while cleansing and purifying. Although hygiene is not THE cause of acne, it’s still an important factor in controlling it.
